Lonavala and Khandala Tour Plan

Lonavala and Khandala Tour - India

Lonavala and Khandala are the two nearby hill stations from Pune and Mumbai. It is the area of Western Ghats. People from Pune, Mumbai and side by areas come and visit these places during rainy season.

When To Visit:

Generally, Monsoon is the best for visiting these places. June to September is considered good time travel.

How to Reach:

Nearest airport is PUNE (PNQ) or Mumbai (CST), from the airport you can travel by car which will take around 2-2.5 hours or you can take train which will take around 2 hours to reach Lonavala. Lonavala has Railway station which makes train connectivity easier.

Our itinerary was for 1 Nights 2 Days.

Day 1:

We traveled from Pune Station to Lonavala Station in the morning. The climate was amazing with rain drops and cloudy weather which is the most attraction here. After reaching to Lonavala we have took our snacks from local restaurant and checked into hotel which we booked earlier. As we were travelling in the weekend so better to book a decent hotel during peak season.
After some refreshment, we booked a local Toyota Innova and visited nearby places like Tiger's Leap, Karla Caves, Bhaja Caves, Bhusi Dam, Khandala Point and Lonavala Lake.

                                                            View From Karla Caves

Inside Karla Caves

Bhaja Caves

Tiger Leap Waterfalls

Lonavala Lake

                                                                Bhusi Dam

There are Lohagad Fort, Korigad Fort, Rajmachi Fort which can be trekked, due to sort time we couldn't do that.

All the places have their own beautify and landscape. We have enjoyed every bit of the rain drops, misty air and holistic view of the places. After all day travel, we returned by evening.

Day 2:

Today we had a plan to return to Pune. Started the morning with Idli , Dhosa, sambar and gentle breeze in the balcony of hotel. After our breakfast we headed to the local market to buy some famous food like Chikli, Fuzz etc.
Some hours in the morning spent like this before we reach to the station in the afternoon for train and saying goodbye to Lonavala.
Though it was short trip but couldn't restrict the enjoyment and vibes of hilly beauty inside us.

Hope you guys will plan sometime for the tour, there are some Bung-lows can be rented in some remote areas of Lonavala to enjoy the thrill of night in Jungle. We missed that hope would check out next time.
