Sikkim Tour Plan


Sikkim is surrounded by Himalayan region from North to South and East to West. Gangtok the capital of the state is one of the cleanest city of India. My journey to Sikkim happened in Oct - Nov of 2018.

When To Visit: Oct to March is quite chilling in Sikkim. But if you want to enjoy snowfall across is the best time to visit. Otherwise summer season gives quite comfort in the hilly regions.

How to Reach: Nearest airport is Bagdogra Airport (IXB), from there you can take share or private cab to reach Gangtok.

Our itinerary was for 6 Nights 7 Days.

Day 1: On arriving at Gangtok in the afternoon , we spent the day with local shopping and roaming around the mall road. It is very much happening place and lots of winter wears available. I also managed to talk with local tour operators (Lots available at Gangtok) for next day sightseeing at Nathula Pass also booked with them for Lachung Tour. You can also opt for Lachen and Lachur tour with them together.

Note: Please make advance booking (At least before Working Hours) in with them as it requires Military and Govt permission to visit Nathula Pass.

Day 2: As we have booked with local tour operators and completed the govt paper works on 1st day, so we started journey to Nathula Pass. It is SINO border and situated around 15500  ft. On the way we rested at Changu lake taking lots of photos in the chilling weather. 
After that went to Nathula Pass, taking pictures and video-graphy are not allowed. Here its around -4 C. and having breathing difficulties. It is better to have small oxygen bottle / cylindar those having breathing problems. Also kids below 8 year and Old people should avoid this height and cold.
 
It was astonishing view of snow around and Indian soldiers guarding our country. On the way to return we visited Baba Mandir which is very much famous for Baba Harbhajan Singh.

We returned to Gangtok in the evening and spent the rest of the day in the hotel as it was bit hectic journey.

Day 3: Today we have planned for Lachung which is Northern part of Sikkim and it should take 7-8 hours journey by road. So we prepared accordingly and left for Lachung .
We skipped Lachen and Gurudangmar lake in this trip. People generally plan for 2 Night 3 Days trip covering Lachen and Lachung. We have 1 Night 2 Days trip.
In this trip the tour operator takes care of everything (Travel, Lodging , Food etc). On the way we enjoyed the natural beauty, Waterfalls, Villages . Other families also travel together and conversing with them and knowing various stories will not make bore surely. In the night around 8 PM we reached Lachung. It was around 0 degree C / -1 degree C there.


Yumthang Valley

Day 4: Today we headed to Yumthung valley from Lachung , It is full flowers (during autumn) . During our visit it was full snow. You can spend quite good time there. 20 kms from there is Zero point on the same we returned to Gangtok and stayed there overnight.



Day 5: From Gangtok we traveled to Pelling , it is around 4 hours of journey. On arriving Pelling we spent the day with local sightseeing and marketing. You can view the Kanchenjuga the best from Pelling. On the way you can visit 

Day 6: We have spent the day with local sight seeing in Pelling. There are lots of waterfalls Kanchenjunga Fall, Rabdentse Ruins, Rimbi Waterfall, Pemayangtse Monastery,Khecheopalri Lake, Ravangla and local guide will show you more places if you want . It was worth with the visit. Our evening spent looking at the Golden Kanchenjunga in the full moon night.

Day 7: Today was the last day of our trip. In the share cab we returned to New Jaipalguri to catch our train to Howrah from NJP.  It was worth visting Sikkim.
